In collaboration with the Dutch Embassy, the NZIA Wellington Branch present ‘Why We Cycle’, a documentary that takes a ride with ordinary cyclists and specialists from a variety of disciplines. These conversations uncover some obvious, but even more hidden effects of cycling on people, on societies, and on the organisation of cities.

The screening of the film is followed by a panel discussion about cycling in the city. The intention is to hit the issue from a number of perspectives and talk over what potential there is in developing the cycling culture.

Panelists:

  • Anna Kemble Welch and Martin Hanley – Red Design Architects, founders and lead organisers of the Newtown Festival
  • Mark Fletcher – Senior Associate & Landscape Architect at Studio Pacific
  • Klaus Klaas Loenhart – German architect and landscape architect

Chaired by Dr. Sam Kebbell – Architect & Senior Lecturer at Victoria University.
